With this tour from Matera, we will set off to explore Craco, the ghost town that dominates the hills of an abandoned village in the heart of Basilicata, the medieval town of Altamura famous for the hat-shaped bread and the Amaro Lucano Museum.

Itinerary

• Departure from Matera at 09.00: Meet your guide at your Hotel for an early morning departure.

• Craco: Old Craco is an uninhabited town, but truly evocative for this very reason. Set of many Italian and international films, visiting the area, it seems to immerse yourself in a timeless reality. Now it is a territory sought after by tourists from all over Italy and the world to explore thanks to a guided circular route, wearing safety equipment. The famous abandoned site appears as a shocking and fascinating place at the same time. Let's discover it together!

• Amaro Lucano Museum: On the way to Altamura we will stop at the Amaro Lucano Museum to learn about Basilicata's most famous liquor. Inclusions:

  • Visit to the Butterfly Garden with native and naturalized plants of Basilicata, Garden of Essences dedicated to medicinal herbs, the same ones used in the recipe of Amaro Lucano and IGP Lemon trees of the Sorrento peninsula;

  • Visit to the exhibition space, called Fabbrica, where the history of the family and the company is retraced; At the end of the visit, a Free Tasting (1cl) of Amaro Lucano.

• Altamura: A city of ancient palaces, churches and cloisters, Altamura is known throughout Italy, and beyond, for its very famous bread: cooked in wood-fired ovens and prepared according to ancient tradition, it has a taste and aroma that are not easily forgotten, so much so that it became the first baked product in Europe to obtain the DOP mark.

• Return to Matera around 15.30: Hotel Drop-off.
